There is an association of English, Scottish, and Cambriese
ex-colonies called the (Solemn) League (and Covenant) of
North America, or L.N.A. for short. It retains an association
with the Monarchs, but isn't ruled by the Parliaments of the
Federated Kingdoms (of Britain). An enormous Canada, in short,
but excluding Nouvelle France itself.

We can pretty well deduce just from the name that it is in close
contact with speakers of some non-Romance language: Germanic,
Slavic, or Celtic are the likely cases. Historically
the names "Latin" (Ladin, Ladino) and "Roman" (Romantsch, Romanian)
survive only for Romance varieties in close contact with
outsiders.
