Yeah.  My dictionary gives ferrarius or faber ferrarius for blacksmith.
It also gives faber as any skilled worker with a hard material.  It would
seem that farrier is an English specialisation of the more general Latin
word.  Old Celtic gives gobanos; hence Gowan.
